Meet Magdalena – Birthworker (Doula), Educator & Birth Guide

Hi, and congratulations on your pregnancy.

I’m Magdalena—the founder of Power in Birth®, based in Leeds and supporting parents across Yorkshire and the UK.

I believe birth is not just a medical event—it’s a profound, life-shaping beginning for you and your baby. My work combines in-depth antenatal education, practical support, and meaningful connection, so you can feel confident, calm, and centred—however your birth unfolds.

If you're seeking a gentle, physiological (natural) birth and want real tools to prepare for various scenarios, I’d be honoured to walk with you. My approach is practical, honest, and deeply respectful of your instincts.

I invite you to take this journey with me—at your pace, in your power, and on your terms.

  • Can't thank you enough for all the help bringing Isla into the world and a positive birth experience!

    Zoë, Edinburgh

  • I would highly recommend Magdalena to anyone who's pregnant. I was instantly more confident, calm and in control of my options, and of my birth! Born au naturel, my son came quick and I stood up for myself on every level!

    Laura, Yorkshire

  • Magdalena at Power in Birth was so professional, super friendly and knowledgeable. Everything was so well explained, and she made us feel completely comfortable. I honestly don't think that without the course I would have coped half as well as I did. I felt very capable of the final stages of birth, which were so memorable! We would recommend it to anybody.

    Sarah, Yorkshire

  • Thank you so very much for everything! Hypnobirthing was amazing, as was your continuous support. We really appreciated it!

    Elizabeth, Yorkshire

  • You gave us so much valuable and key information. I felt so empowered again, just re-reading all your messages, slides and pictures! You were so kind and caring and full of knowledge. It really helped us to prep for our birth. I so appreciate everything you did for us, as we ended up birthing at home without a midwife. You have continued to support me after birth and only being a text or DM away. You have such passion for what you do, and I hope you go on to help so many other women to plan and prep for their birth.

    Olivia, Warwickshire

  • To any partners out there, this is 100% worth doing, don't question if you should do it, you need to do it! … I learned so much more than I had from the books, blogs, or websites I had read, and I also understood how my role as the partner could really benefit my other half when the time came to birth.

    Matt, Yorkshire

  • We've learnt so much more than in NCT classes! I enjoyed all our sessions and just how much it prepared me and reassured my wife. It was 100% worth it. I learned specifically where I could support. Also knowing the birthing plan and having the confidence to challenge any decision deviating from the plan/ bursting mums bubble during labour.

    Rudi, Leeds

  • The course changed my perception of birth. I think I would have been a ball of panic without the learning that Magdalena offered, breathing techniques, pain relief technique and how to prepare for challenging situations. The course included information about my birth rights and also about the benefits of physiological birth to the baby.

    Lily, Leeds

  • I came to do Magdalena’s 3-step rewind [postnatal support sessions] after I had an amazing birth which unexpectedly brought up many emotions of my previous bad birth experience within the medical system. After the 1st session I felt in a relaxed place to allow myself to delve deep into where my emotions truly came from. By the end of the 3rd session I had come to a place of forgiveness and self love & took this into my parenting journey. Thank you for these priceless sessions.

What’s different about my pregnancy and birth (doula) support?

  • My support doesn’t end with the completion of the antenatal course or at your birth. I support you until the end of your postnatal (postpartum) period. This is included in all group courses (online support), in person courses (in person support) and doula packages. Genuinely honouring your needs also means you won’t get any pressure to book or won’t be subjected to any questionable marketing tactics. I won’t be tackling your objections. I won’t be squeezing you through a marketing funnel. This service is an invitation, and you decide what’s right for you, just as you do in pregnancy, birth and beyond.

  • I’ve got you covered! At my courses and antenatal (part of my doula service), I invite you to learn about all aspects of birth, including pregnancy and birth rights, birth advocacy and self-empowerment. You, and your birth partner, will have an opportunity to learn the essentials of birth physiology, as well as about emotional, intuitive and mindful (somatic and self-regulation, trauma-informed) side of labour. Preparation for the first days with your new baby is also included.

What if you learn about all that physiology, and more, but your baby is in suboptimal position for birth? Yes, I cover this too! I’m a certified biomechanics practitioner: I do share with you how to gently facilitate the optimal baby position, long before labour starts and during birth too!

I continue learning and training with the best providers to support you with effective and practical methods across all aspects of pregnancy and birth.

  • I prepare you for changing circumstances (e.g. how to retain elements of your birth plan, even if your circumstances change, how to decide what is right for you individually). Supporting you with a range of tools, my aim is to put you firmly in control of your pregnancy and birth choices.

While physiology and undisturbed birth is my key focus and a special area of interest (aka physiological/vaginal birth without interventions, in an environment of your choice), I accept that every birth is different and that, very occasionally, it might need additional help. With that in mind, I include guidance about navigating change of circumstances while keeping your dignity and power firmly with you.

We discuss how to keep the stress at bay and how to approach decision making in a wide range of scenarios.

I have a deep respect for birth and transition to motherhood/parenthood and cannot promise you certain birth outcomes (nobody can), however I can prepare you in-depth and give you practical skills to navigate birth on your own terms in a way that is best for you and your baby in your individual circumstances.

  • For parents with previous difficult birth experience, I offer individual care before the course start and ongoing support to build your skills for birth on solid foundations. If this applies to you, please book a call to discuss your needs as soon as you can, ideally before the course start or at birth guidance (doula) initial chat.

If you have experienced birth trauma or a negative birth experience that is affecting you in the current pregnancy, please have a look at the Perinatal Support tab at the top of this page or simply get in touch.

This service is included in the Holistic Birth Prep course, and heavily discounted with all other services and courses. For clarity, a parent who books birth /postnatal support receives 30% discount and a parents who books a group course receives 15% discount. To get the discounted rates, please email info@powerinbirth.co.uk before booking.
